Story: A teenaged Alice returns to Wonderland with a fall through the rabbit hole for the second time, although she does not remember the first. She encounters the same characters as before, and begins a mad adventure across the land to recover the Vorpel sword and defeat the Jabberwocky, the principle weapon in the Red Queen's arsenal. She shrinks and grows, encounters the March Hare, the Talking Caterpillar, the Cheshire Cat, and the Mad Hatter, made mad by the rule of the bloody Red Queen. As with all fairy tales, the good conquers the evil and justice prevails.
Review: For fans of Disney and Johnny Depp alike, this film is a delight. While taking poetic license with Lewis Carroll's story, the characters in his writings come to life as only the creators of such classics as Snow White and Beauty and the Beast can make them. Depp is his usual creative self, developing the role of the Mad Hatter into a new and wondrous character that both enchants and delights, and young Mia Wasikowska plays a consummate Alice, headstrong and self assured. Particular attention should be given to Helena Bonham Carter, whose versatility and ability to blend with her characters make her one of the finest actresses of this generation. A film for film lovers everywhere and a definite purchase for Grandparents who want something entertaining for the grandkids when they visit.
